Slap bang in the centre of new Dubai Barsha First is positively mature compared to the more thinly populated Barsha 2, 3 or 4, let alone Al Barsha South. Just off Sheikh Zayed Road and home to one of the UAE's biggest malls complete with ski slope, plus a conveniently located Metro station there are few empty plots left.
The area is instead dominated by fairly low rise apartment blocks, managed offices and 3- and 4-star hotels. The only school of note is Dubai National School, which is no bad thing - there is too much traffic in the area already, especially on access roads.
In terms of accommodation Al Barsha 1 largely serves as a lower priced option for those working in the Media City, and Knowledge Village. It does not really get much further - those working in JLT would opt for a JLT apartment instead - a much more designed residential community.
Al Barsha 1 would not win awards as a particularly hospitable place to live. It is dusty, greenery is sparse and was never designed as a community. Its organic, rather chaotic spread may however appeal to some, as will the relatively affordable price point - 75,000 - 90,000 AED for a two bed apartment.
