Paddington 3’s release date has at last been revealed by StudioCanal UK - and audiences have less than a year to wait before being reunited with our favourite marmalade loving bear!

Taking to social media on 23rd October, the studio revealed that the third instalment of the hugely popular Paddington franchise, Paddington in Peru, will be hitting cinemas on 8th November 2024.

While there is still a while to wait, fans are delighted to have got an update on the movie. It’s been over six years since Paddington 2 hit the big screen, so more content featuring the duffle-coated bear in the near future is much appreciated.

“So can’t wait for this movie!” was one fan’s response to the news over on X (formerly Twitter).

“If it’s half as magical as the first two, we’ll be in for a treat. Wonderful films,” another penned lovingly.

Over on Instagram, fans were also gushing. “My baby bear,” one wrote with a hearteyes emoji.

Paddington in Peru is the first film in the Paddington franchise (adapted from the Michael Bond books) not to be directed by one of the series’ lead creatives, Paul King.

The director has still collaborated on the story as he did on the previous two films with Ghosts star Simon Farnaby and fellow writer Mark Burton, but his next directorial project is Wonka, not Paddington 3.

Paddington in Peru has music video and former John Lewis ad director Dougal Wilson at its helm in place of King instead.

Another change in store for the film is that Emily Mortimer will be replacing Sally Hawkins in the role of Mary Brown, after scheduling conflicts prevented Hawkins from returning to the role for the third film.

Other much-loved stars of the franchise such as Hugh Bonneville, Julie Walters, and the voice of Paddington Bear, Ben Whishaw are all returning however, as are Madeleine Harris and Samuel Joslin as the presumably now grown-up Brown children Judy and Jonathan.

Paddington in Peru will be out in cinemas 8th November 2024.
