It’s the rare artist or entrepreneur who finds their life and career the subject of a major museum-style exhibit, but on July 14, the Brooklyn Public Library unveiled “The Book of HOV,” an installation of art, audio and text that delivers a retrospective of artist and entrepreneur Jay-Z’s career. The exhibit — which hung through Dec. 4, was curated by Roc Nation and is now available online for free — included many never-seen images and personal artifacts. The show generated a fourfold increase in library visitors and a 12 percent increase in book checkouts. If you’re not much of a reader, no problem, as the company’s ongoing relationship with the NFL makes it the producer of one of TV’s best rated events: the Super Bowl Halftime Show. This year, Roc Nation artist Rihanna took that to new heights, fetching more than 121 million viewers — a new record — and five Emmy nominations.
