The 11 Best Rooftop Bars in Lisbon

Cocktails, many snacks and spectacular views. This is where you have to take advantage of what remains of the summer.

Hotel Mundial Rooftop Bar

(Praça Moniz, 2, Mouraria, Martim Moniz)

It has rooftop in the name and just so it should top this list. The terrace of the Hotel Mundial bar is one of the classics of the city. The top floor of the hotel in Martim Moniz has already gained fame thanks to the selfies facing the castle. There are several options of gin (€ 13), wine by the glass (from € 4), sangria (6 € glass, 19 € jar) and beers (the imperial costs € 3.70). But there are also several pages on the menu with different options of cocktails.

Sky Bar at Tivoli Hotel

(Avenida da Liberdade 185)

With one of the best views over the city, this rooftop bar accessed through the 9th floor of the Tivoli Avenida da Liberdade Hotel offers a variety of cocktails, including non-alcoholic choices. Previously only open from April to September, it's now open throughout the year.

There are also light meals, so you may come for a cocktail with sunset views and stay for dinner.

Topo Bar

(6th floor of Shopping Center Martim Moniz, Praça Martim Moniz)

It is normal here to witness the daring acrobatics of the bartenders and a privileged view over the Castle of St. George. There is room to stretch your back or high tables, depending on your preferred relaxation style. The music is good, the drinks and the gastronomic options as well.

Park Bar

(6th floor of Parking at Calçada do Combro)

It is the most famous car park in the city, mainly because of the sixth floor, where half of Lisbon is usually parked on the terrace with the best view. This rooftop bar has cocktails, snacks and DJs that usually cheer up the late afternoons of the Lisbon inhabitants and the crowd of tourists who visit the park every day. It is on the Calçada do Combro and, even in winter, with blankets, heaters and an indoor terrace, it is a good option to drink a glass at the end of the day. The Park's music offer is increasingly composed, in a serious bet on urban sonorities, from hip-hop to more tropical languages. Based on these beats, even a publisher called Parkbeat Records was created.

Rio Maravilha

(Lx Factory, Rua Rodrigues de Faria 103, Entrance 3, 4th floor)

A former break room of factory workers, on a 4th floor, is now a gastropub paying tribute to the river Tagus and Rio de Janeiro. It's still meant to be a place for socializing, during lunch, dinner, and drinks and meals in between, and still offers the same view of the river and of 25 de Abril Bridge.

A sculpture by the artist Leonel Moura opens its arms towards the Monument to Christ across the river, while some people wait for a table at the restaurant and others arrive for cocktails in a lively atmosphere.

The curious decor maintains the industrial feel, and consists of tables with multimedia projections and tabletops with board games. There is also a stage by the entrance for concerts and cultural events.

Silk

(Rua da Misericórdia 14, Espaço Chiado Building)

This terrace at the top of a building in the Chiado district opened in 2008 as one of Lisbon's most exclusive bars. It's now also a restaurant of Japanese cuisine, but continues to serve cocktails late into the night to the sound of music by the resident DJ - always with its nearly-360º panoramic city view, with a minimalist décor and a chilled-out ambience.

Level Eight

( Rua Castilho 14, Avenida da Liberdade/Príncipe Real)

The name says it all, it just does not say where the eighth floor is. It is in Rua Castilho, it has 350 square meters, capacity for 200 people and the view, from Parque Eduardo VII to the Botanical Garden, is astonishing. The space was practically all covered with deck and is only surrounded by glass, already thinking about the unobstructed view over the city. The panorama is only cut by a vertical garden with a luminous sign of Disaronno. The Italian liqueur, similar in taste to the bitter almond, is the official patron of Level Eight. The menu includes 16 cocktails, four of them based on the famous amaretto.

Entretanto Bar at Hotel do Chiado

( Rua Nova do Almada 114)

The terrace on the 7th floor of Hotel do Chiado offers a breathtaking view of Lisbon. You may admire the old city, the Saint George Castle and the Tagus, while enjoying a tea in the afternoon or a cocktail at night. It's open from 10:30AM to midnight.

The Insólito

( Rua de São Pedro de Alcântara 83)

On top of an old mansion, The Insolito (means «The Unusual») hung on the ceiling Barbies, origami birds and candelabra on the balcony where signature cocktails are served. The decoration fills the necessary quotas of unusual. The list of cocktails is long, as is the wine list offer. And we have not even talked to you about the view, in the Mirador of São Pedro de Alcântara.

Ático at NH Liberdade Hotel

( Avenida da Liberdade, 180 B)

On the 11th floor of the NH Liberdade Hotel you'll find a swimming pool and a bar looking out to the castle.

It’s usually surrounded by hotel guests, but you don’t need to book a room to go for a swim - you pay a fee and get a towel.

At the bar, anyone who shows up can be served cocktails (including some non-alcoholic choices), to enjoy in the afternoon or at night (until midnight) with a view that goes from the Botanical Garden to Torel Garden.

The Garden Rooftop

(Rua do Instituto Industrial 7, 7th floor)

Lisbon's new terrace arrived in late August 2018 but there is still time to enjoy the summer sunsets with a 360 degree view of the city. It's called The Garden Rooftop, it's in the Santos area and has many cocktails and snacks to try every day until two in the morning. As if this were not enough, there is still a musical selection curated by Moullinex.

The entrance is made by the same building of the Fitness Hut of Santos, near the headquarters of EDP. Then, to access the new terrace, on the seventh floor, just an elevator. The Garden Rooftop is giant. It has 600 square meters and capacity for 200 people. There is an area, facing the Tagus, where you can sit and order one of the various snacks from the menu.

On the terrace there are three gastronomic offerings: El Clandestino (with Mexican tacos), Poké House (with the famous Hawaiian bowls) and the new Unilever palettes (fruit ice cream). The space works every day from 12:00 to 02:00.
