“A state when the feet do not touch the ground, and the space between sky and earth” is just one definition of the Buddhist term “Nakazora,” the title the photographer Masao Yamamoto gives to his recent body of work. It’s a fitting description for imagery that takes you somewhere distant yet eerily familiar, a place of waking dreams. Editions of his haunting work can be found in little treasure-chest boxes at Jackson Fine Art Gallery in Atlanta, where you can sip tea while thumbing through the works of photographers from Henri Cartier-Bresson to Sam Taylor Wood.
