A Cannes Film Festival For Video Games Is Coming

We will soon see the debut of the Cannes Gaming Festival, a video game version of the world-famous Cannes Film Festival. According to Robin Leproux (the former president of Paris Saint-Germain) and Antoine de Tavernost (the CEO of Auditoire), this event will be held in Cannes next October.

“Discussing with the teams of the city of Cannes, I had an idea,” Leproux, said. ” I said to myself: ‘We do not have an international festival for the tenth art, which is the video game; the equivalent of Cannes for the seventh art, the cinema. “Once I had this idea, I told myself it was absolutely necessary to organize it.”

The award ceremony for the Cannes Gaming Festival will be headed up by an international jury comprised of “legitimate, well-known, and passionate personalities.” These individuals will honor “creations and artists” in a “hybrid show” that features digital and in-person presentations.

There are already plans in place to develop the festival even further. Starting in 2024, the event will adopt a five-day format that integrates meetings between creators and the general public into the festival’s award ceremony.
