1992 in Brownwood. She retired
from teaching at the age of 75. She
was HPU's Coming Home Queen
in 1985 and 1991, and was the
oldest member of the Heritage
club. Survivors include a daugh-
ter, Virginia Bishop; a sister, Mar-
garetTongate; two grandchildren;
four great-grandchildren; and
three great-great-grandchildren.

in Goldthwaite. He was a minister
and a teacher. Survivors include
his wife, Zelma; a sister, Addie
Swafford; and a number of nieces
and nephews.

1992. She taught school in Dallas.

Mary Katherine Boon Gar-
ner on Sept. 9, 1992. She was an
officer of the Daughters of the
American Revolution and a char-
ter member of Welcome W. Chan-
dler Chapter of Daughters of Re-
public of Texas. Survivors include

14, 1992 in San Angelo. Hepastored in Texas for 50 years. He
served on HPU's Board of Trust-
ees. Survivors include his wife,
Dessie Mae; a daughter-in-law,
Karen; a brother; and a sister.

in Comanche. She taught school
in Houston. Survivors include
four daughters, Toni Smith, Ruby
Madrid, Lyndall Morrison and
Paula Gibson; four grandchildren;
and three great-grandchildren.

1992inBedford. She taughtschool
in Eldorado for 25 years.

Eugene Ege on July 12,1992
in Abilene. He served as a pastor
in Texas and Utah. He was a mem-
ber of the Academy of Freedom's
Board of Directors. Survivors in-
clude his wife, Iona; a daughter,
Margaret Bechtel; a son, Stanley;
five grandchildren; a brother,
Frank; and a sister, Sally Reckand.

Polly Cox Tomlin on Aug.
21,1992 in Nacogdoches. She was
a retired teacher. She edited the
oral history magazine, The Chin-
quapin. Survivors includeher hus-

in Brownwood, Lubbock and
Austin.

Okla. She retired from J. A. Ma-
jors in Dallas. Survivors include
her husband, Glenn Williams, Jr.
'54; son and daughter-in-law,
Michael and Tina Williams; and a
daughter, Glenda.

Oral Davis on Oct. 6,1992 inAbilene. He was a teacher and
farmer. Survivors include his wife,
Amy; a son, Jerry; three brothers,
Lawrence, Truman and Cecil;
three sisters, Florence Maness,
Frankie Armstrong and Goldene
Livingston; and four grandchil-
dren.

in Del Rio. She was a homemaker
and a teacher. She was the wife of
the late Felton "Pooch" Wright;
Survivors include a daughter, June
Carley; two sons, Don and Bob;
two sisters, Marcus Poteet and Nell
Talbott; a brother, Jack Coughran;
nine grandchildren; and 14 great-
grandchildren.

Pittsburg Avenue Baptist Church
in Llano in 1964 and served that
church until his death. Survivors
include his wife, Andrea; his
mother and stepfather, Irene and
W. B. Hill; a daughter, Susanne
Koch; three sons, Shane, Christo-
pher and William; two brothers,
Troy and Gary; two stepbrothers,
Larry Hill and Bruce Hill; and
numerous aunts, uncles, nieces
and nephews.

Judy Patterson on Aug. 18,
1992 in Abilene. She taught in
Breckenridge. Survivors include
her husband, Kenneth; a daugh-
ter, Vonda Abdo; and a son, Brad.

Dallas police force for 21 years
before retiring in 1988. Survivors
include his wife, Donna; a daugh-
ter, Maralena; his mother, Grace

Judy Patton and Dahlia Glasscock.

Troy Kennedy on Aug. 10,1992 inMerkel. He washead foot-
ball coach at Merkel. He coached
in Brownwood, Duncanville,
Grandview, Roscoe and Rankin.
Survivors include his wife,
Rhudie; two sons, Kirk and Trent;
a daughter, Callie; his mother,
Nona; a brother, Larry; and sev-
eral nieces and nephews.

an artist and WWII veteran. He

Warren "Nick" Carter on
Sept. 1, 1992. He served in the
military for 37 years until his re-
tirement in 1955. He received the
Distinguished Service Medal and
the Legion of Merit. Survivors
includehiswife, Lucille; a daugh-
ter, Eileen; a brother; two sisters;
and three grandchildren.
Daniel Baker
W. D. "Bill" Bradley on
March 28,1992 in Waurika, Okla.
He served in the Oklahoma House
of Representatives from 1952-82,
the longest tenure of any mem-
ber. He was a rancher. Survivors
include his wife, Margaret; a son,
Hank; and a daughter, Pat Scott.
J. H. Childs on Aug. 29,1992.
He was a retired Brownwood
postmaster and former Brown
County judge. He served in the
Army during WWII. He was a
Distinguished Alumnus for DBC
in 1979. Survivors include his
wife, Carolyn; a daughter, Bar-
bara Helbert; a son, Joe; five
grandchildren; two sisters, Lorena
Bennett and Mary Ruth Childs;
and five brothers, Nuel, David,
James, Gary and Donnell Childs.
Francis Gleaton on July 8,
1992 in Odessa. He retired as dis-
trict foreman from Exxon Corp.
in 1975 after 42 years of service.
Survivors include his wife, Mary;
two daughters, Linda Meyer and
Jerri Brown; two brothers, Jerry
and Dick; three grandchildren;
