iep Squad Is iampa's Pride
Largest organization in P. H. S. and perhaps the largest of its kind in the nation is the Pep
Squad, which boasts a membership of over 200 girls. This colorful group of green and gold clad
lassies forms the cheering squad for school functions from football games to assembly programs.
For the past eight years Mrs. E. L. Norman and Mrs. R. H. Sanford ("Miss Strnad") have been
sponsors of this group. This year Miss Eugeania Johnston was chosen as third sponsor after the picture
on the opposite page was made. Frances Coffey Noblitt and Jean Gillespie, leaders from last year, were
named field marshalls and wore white uniforms this year. Gold uniforms were worn by the sponsors
and the leaders, Katherine Barrett, Betty Rains, Edwinna Gilbert Ayer, and Tommy Close.
The girls are pictured in their specially constructed grandstand at Harvester Park.
