But despite earning GOAT status, the physical toll of competing took its toll on Hogan, with the hall-of-famer in the habit of drinking and taking painkillers.

However, changes to improve his health due to his advancing years has had a positive impact on his life as he displayed in June during a trip to the beach with his girlfriend.

"I wasn't eating junk food anymore. I dropped like 40 pounds right away."

Hogan has previously spoken about the drinking culture on the wrestling scene, along with the lengths he would go to to manage the pain that his profession caused him.

"I was hitting the pain pills hard because I’d had to endure 25 procedures, including 10 to my back, facial operations from being kicked, knee and hip replacements, and abdominal and shoulder surgeries.

“After wrestling 40 years almost, my body shut down on me."

Despite his time as an elite athlete, age catches up to everyone, especially someone who has put his body through as much physical pain as he has.

He certainly doesn't feel 70 and advises anyone wanting to mix it up to get cracking.

"My advice for anyone else looking to make a change later in life is 'just get back to the dance'. Do whatever it takes to get back to who you are and what you love.

“A lot of guys my age have the same problems that I do, and suffer with arthritis and inflammation. I've always found a way to train around that strategically without irritating it, but the main thing is being consistent with your workouts."
