Noyo Charm

Noyo Charm

New to us, and obtained from the Mendocino Coast Botanical Garden, this hybrid of (R. johnstoneanum x R. veitchianum) x R. moupinense is spectacular. The plant blooms very heavily in early spring, March, and will make a mound 5-6 ft. tall and 7-9 ft. wide. The plant becomes somewhat open as it holds leaves for only 1 or 2 years, however the foliage is a nice shiny medium green. The flowers are a light pink with a strawberry flare on the dorsal lobe. The edges of each flower are quite ruffled, adding to the interest. Probably hardy to zone 8 or 9 only. Hybridized by the late Bob Scott.

Rare Variety – This variety is difficult to find anywhere due to these reasons
·       Hard to propagate – many cultivars do not root easily from cuttings, but at a reduced rate thus making the plant rare.
·       Hard to find – these cultivars are hard to find in the first place, probably because they are hard to root from cuttings
