Delphinium parishii

Wildflowers Dicots Ranunculales Ranunculaceae Delphinium

Pale Larkspur.

Starts blooming in early May (or maybe late April, though I’ve never been in a position to see it blooming that early) and continues into June.

It’s blooms are indeed paler than the other local blue larkspurs, it’s flower spikes are taller, and the spike is more densely flowered than the others. It also has non-basal leaves, which the others do not.

There is a patch of D. parishii in the middle of a patch of D. parryi about a quarter mile up Cold Spring trail from Forbush, there is another patch a mile up the trail, and several other patches in the back country.
