Set in the “outback” of Sardinia—the mountainous interior of the popular Mediterranean island—the pastoral village is an unexpected mix of nature, tradition, and culture, kept alive by a group of visionaries that includes Giovanna Palimodde, a local hotelier whose Su Gologone has become a hub for authentic Sardinian cuisine (don’t miss the ricotta culurgiones and the inventive pupusas with tomato sauce). While you’re in town, Palimodde suggests a visit to the nearby village of Orgosolo, known for its murals. This spring, visitors to So Gologone can also look forward to new offerings, including yoga and reiki classes and an open-air suite for al fresco nights under the stars.
