The famed fashion designer, 60, created a one-of-a-kind shoe, known as the Sea Queen Gladiator Sandal, for the Disney Create 100 auction supporting Make-A-Wish. The shoe — which can be bid on through Oct. 30 — is inspired by the Marvel character Namor, an underwater mutant who is portrayed by Tenoch Huerta in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. "I wanted to deeply explore the Marvel Universe and its references," Louboutin tells PEOPLE exclusively about crafting the Namor-inspired shoe. "The aquatic universe has always been fascinating to me." "The form of the sandal is inspired by his armor," he adds. "It embodies empowerment, which is a key message of the larger Christian Louboutin x Marvel capsule collection." Crafting the shoe, Louboutin tells PEOPLE, took "around 25 hours," as "all the scales are applied one by one on the silver leather." "Before this, the conception is also essential, as each scale has been imagined as a mirror to recreate a reflective visual effect," he notes. "The size and the shape must be perfect."
