When Brooke Burke said “yes” to Scott Rigsby’s proposal two years ago, she wasn’t only saying yes to him — but also to his two children.

Burke, 52, tells PEOPLE she has “a great relationship” with Rigsby’s two kids, Lila, 15, and Levi, 12, who she welcomed with open arms following her engagement in 2021.

“It's a beautiful blended family,” she says. “I’m super proud of that. It’s not easy and it's really working so well.”

The former Dancing with the Stars host admits that when it comes to parenting — whether it’s her four children or Rigsby's — she’s constantly figuring it out as she goes. “You just keep learning. I mean, I know so much more today after welcoming Levi and Lila into my family,” she says, adding, “It's just time.”

Burke shares daughter Rain, 16, and son Shaya, 15, with ex-husband David Charvet, as well as daughters Neriah, 23, and Sierra, 21, with ex-husband Garth Fisher.

“There’s just so many different personalities,” she says of juggling the six children and their 11-year age range. “We're raising each other and we're counting on each other.”

As for how she feels her parenting style has changed as her children get older — it’s “so different,” she says — Burke shares that time is on her side more so now than ever.

“I've had a lot more time to spend with them than I had when I was raising four little ones. I do a lot of work at home now. I do a lot of work in the intentional wellness space which has made me a much wiser, calmer, connected woman, I think.”

Burke also clarifies that not only has she developed a great relationship with Rigsby’s kids, but her own children have come to love her fiancé, too.

“Everybody loves Scott. Thank God,” she says.

“The kids are all on board, which is a blessing because I know how challenging that can be and [I] feel very lucky to be able to say that,” she continues. “They're excited about our wedding, they're excited about life, they're excited about our new home — they just love him.”

The fitness guru adds of her blended family, “It all stems from love.”

As the holiday season approaches, she’s excited about all of the quality time she has ahead with her family.

“I look forward to being home for the holidays,” she says, sharing that the family will spend the holidays at their home in Malibu, despite the fact that she and Rigsby have spent much of the past year working on a new home together in Carefree, Arizona that they’re “excited about.”

While she “can’t believe” how quickly the holiday season is approaching, Burke adds, “I kind of like that downtime with my family during the holidays because it's been such a busy year.”
