VANCOUVER,BC— February 28, 2023 — Fresh Prep, Canada's most sustainable meal kit and a Certified B Corporation®, has recently acquired Peko, Western Canada's first "peculiar" & surplus grocery delivery service. Peko was founded by two female university students, Sang Le and Arielle Lok, who were frustrated with the problem of food waste. Since May 2021, Peko has saved customers close to $1 million in grocery bills and diverted over 200,000 lbs of food from going to the landfill.
With community at the core of its mission, Peko aims to reduce food waste and promote access to affordable and healthy diets. Under Fresh Prep, the company will continue to deliver its signature mystery produce boxes and pantry items at up to 40% off grocery store prices. For every Peko box sold, $1 will be donated to the Food Stash Foundation and Vancouver Food Runners, two local charities that specialize in food recovery to combat hunger.

Under Fresh Prep, Peko plans to obtain B Corporation® certification, launch a reusable packaging program, and expand to Alberta in the summer of 2023.
