Description: Album 1 of flora, fauna, and Maori subjects; black and white photographs taken between 1925 and 1928. Includes images of land formation and plants in the Horowhenua duneland, and the Tararua Ranges. Several images of gannets and chicks at the Cape Kidnappers gannet colony. Old war canoe Hamaria in use on Lake Horowhenua by the Taueki family in 1926 for spearing eels; Uawhaki meeting house at Waikawa, views of carved panel and tukutuku panels inside, 1926; the site of the old native flour mill on the Waitarere Stream at Poroutawhao showing remains of machinery and millstones, 1926 (mill built 1853 or 1854 under the direction of a French priest. Photograph taken in 1926 of a painting by Trevor Lloyd showing Maori life in pre-pakeha days with war canoes making a raid on the Paritutu stronghold at New Plymouth, Taranaki. Views of bird nests and eggs, of the song-thrush, blackbird, and wild duck (probably the grey duck), giving descriptions of manufacture of nests, and the colour of the eggs. Photographs of a variety of trees and plants in the Tararua Ranges.

Description: Album of black & white photographs taken between January 1920 and September 1927 showing the physiography and geological formations, native flora, rivers and valleys, panoramic views with individual peaks named, and members of tramping clubs in the Tararua District. Various trips include visits to the No. 1 Gorge and No. 3 Gorge during the building of the Mangahao Hydroelectric dam; partial ascent of Mt Hector in 1921; various attempts to cross the Tararuas between Levin and Eketahuna, with the full crossing achieved March 4-7 1927; the initial outing of the Levin-Waiopehu Tramping Club, May 25, 1927. Description: Transparency slides of Mr E G Williams' (Edmund Gardner Williams') travel in New Zealand, and his return voyage to England on the Corinthic. The first 3 slides show wandering albatrosses in flight and on a nest, followed by four images of native New Zealand alpine plants in the South Island including Spaniards speargrass, the South Island gentian, a mountain daisy, and a form of senecio. The following views relate to his travel on the Corinthic via Pitcairn Island, including approaching the island, small boats approaching, and two Pitcairn Island women. The next slides show scenes in Panama where they went ashore visiting various sights including Iglesia de San José and Iglesia de Nuestra Señora del Carmen, leaving next day through the Panama Canal.
