Violin Lessons & Viola Lessons

Private Violin Lessons and Viola Lessons

Teaching viola

Students interested in learning to play violin or viola can start as young as 5 years old. While many students begin their instrument at a young age, there are many who do not begin until they are an adult as well! So whether you are 5, 85, or some age in between, now can be your time to learn to play an instrument! Melissa uses a variety of methods in her teaching including more traditional methods where students begin to read music immediately as well as incorporating the Suzuki method which focuses more on developing a student's aural skills. Lessons are tailored to the student's musical interests as well as to the student's learning style.

Online and In Person Violin Lessons & Viola Lessons Available

There are both online and in person options available for lessons. While in person lessons are definitely recommended, Melissa can connect with you online for a lesson via FaceTime, Google Meet, or other online platforms if that is more comfortable or convenient for you. Melissa offers two different options for in person lessons. She teaches from the music studio in her home in Pittsford, NY, and she also gives the option of having the lesson in your home (extra $10 charge) if you are in the Rochester area. Call or text to discuss options.
