Towards an Islamic Commentary to the Book of Psalms. Psalm 25

Impact of Psalm 25:3 “No one who waits for You will be disgraced; those who act treacherously without cause will be disgraced.”

Arnold van Lierop, chaplain from the Dutch city of Breda, died on November 27, 1942 in concentration camp Dachau. Van Lierop’s last words, spoken while he was in pain to Reverend Jacobus Overduin and other fellow prisoners, were words of trust.

“It is not bad, I long for the Lord. And when I go down the chimney tomorrow, you must say again what will be my last words:

“Those who wait on the Lord shall not be put to shame.””

From 1933, Van Lierop had constantly warned against National Socialism in the Roman Catholic media of the Netherlands.
