We stopped here on our way home out of Government Camp (less than 15 mins drive) for breakfast. It was pretty empty for a Monday morning so we had our pick of the seats and decided to sit right by the window. I would describe the style as cabin getaway vibes. They have the main restaurant part and a deli section for grab and go things. There was also an upstairs area where the restroom was but I wasn't sure if it was actually open for dining (my toddler loved the wooden bear statue toilet holder! How cute!) There was a corner area by the fireplace mantle with board games that seemed very family friendly.
We were greeted as soon as we walked in and were told we can sit wherever. And water and drink orders were taken right away. I got the Lumberjack Breakfast special with the sourdough pancake option (available when they have them) and the sausage was super flavorful! My husband got the classic eggs Benedict. We got enjoyed our breakfast potatoes and I'm glad his came with fresh fruit! I haven't made up my mind about the sourdough pancake yet but I would recommend coming for breakfast here in our out of your way from your Government Camp trip!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Sep 19, 2023
Firstly the atmosphere is so adorable you really
Feel like you're in a little mountain cabin. It was the perfect little brunch spot on our way to Mt. Hood. Can't go wrong with chicken and waffles!! There was a nice outdoor seating area. The country fried steak wasn't our favorite. The meat was sort of tough and thick, but I'd definitely stop here again when traveling through. It was an overall good experience.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Perry L.Portland, OR1505120Mar 15, 2024
Comfy, cozy and very good breakfast! Sit by back windows for a great view. Scramble and brioche french toast were delish. Great service too

Unfortunately this was a less than pleasant experience and it seems that it is quite common for ZigZag customers to be left waiting for over an hour without acknowledgment and apologies. We should have known that this was par for the course.
Initially we were very excited to stop by the Cafe after a long hike in the Mt. Hood area. We went inside and asked if we could sit outside on the patio. After 15 minutes had gone by, I went in and had to ask if a server would come by with waters and take our order... it took probably another 10 minutes to get 3 waters and a Bloody Mary. We sat waiting and waiting for our food. An hour and 15 mins went by... we contemplated getting up and leaving as that type of service is inexcusable. Reluctantly we waited and finally the food came.
The only reason I've given them two stars is because the food was pretty good.
I hate to write a review like this but the lack of customer service or acknowledgment is disappointing. They could have preemptively shared that there is a longer wait time or apologized but there was none of that.
Very very disappointing experience. They need to get their service sorted out in a major way!!Helpful 4Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 1 - Linda J.Brightwood, Brightwood, OR0463Sep 16, 2023
We were greeted from the moment we walked in and had a server take our order in a timely manner. We ordered the veggie scramble and the Marion berry waffle. The food came out piping hot and was delicious! This is a charming little cabin up on Mt Hood and a great stop after a hike or before skiing! As far as the wait times mentioned in earlier posts from people, they cook your food to order so cut them some slack.

This place had the most amazing breakfast.
The biscuits are homemade and probably one of the best I've ever had. Gravy was fantastic.
I got the tostado scramble and no complaints.
The wait for them to cook it is worth it!
Plan to come back many more times.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - 1639312397Sep 6, 2022
Eaten here twice. Food made from scratch. Their biscuits are to die for!! I'm normally NOT a biscuit eater but their biscuits are so light and fluffy. I want the recipe! The chicken fried steak was outstanding. Not the traditional sage gravy either. The pancakes were standalone. No sides. But they were huge and covered in Marionberry and whipped cream.
Service was friendly and staff did an excellent job in meal prep. Great place!Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Megan F.New Braunfels, TX13637Jun 2, 2023
We ate here for breakfast 3 days in a row. The biscuits are amazing. The pancakes are delicious. So freaking good. The first two days it wasn't crowded but the third day they were super busy and we still had good service even though there were only two servers.
