San Clemente Little Inn By The Beach

This was a no-frills establishment. My rating does not reflect so much on the room aesthetics, but more on the overall experience. It didn't have a phone in the room and they were sparse on the towels and other amenities, but if you went down to the office, the manager was always in plain sight and more than accommodating. He seemed to be a one-man show for most of the night, working the desk, washing the laundry... I think I even saw him painting the stairwell, but I might have confused him with someone else.

Anyway, what I liked:
-when there was nowhere to park, the manager moved his car and insisted on us taking his spot
-although outdated, the rooms were spacious
-there was a microfridge/freezer
-the location was centrally located to all the sites we wanted to get to
-Surfin' Donuts Coffee House across the street was clutch!

Nice little place, for one night only...I wouldn't stay more than one night. Right when we opened the door, the room had a weird smell.

Thankfully we only needed to stay one night to sleep.

Doors open with one key that you have to lock before you leave from the outside. No safety hinge chain lock for additional security.

The bed was surprisingly comfortable. The pillows were overstuffed (meaning they literally looked like they had 3 pillows stuffed into one pillow case but it was just 1 pillow). Terrible to sleep on, the pillows will give you neck strain for sure just because it isn't aligned to your back.

The blanket/sheets seemed clean...
The carpet didn't seem clean so did not walk barefoot, might contract some infection...

One of the white towels in the restroom had a brown stain on it like makeup or poop wasn't washed properly. Wasn't a big deal since we just asked for new towels, worker downstairs was friendly, nice and prompt.

The shower, sink, and toilet was properly working and clean for what it was. They have: Towels, Blow dryer, ironing board and clothes hangers. They have a fridge, mini coffee maker pot, ice holder, paper cups for the coffee, microwave, TV, and a DVD player in the room.

Only huge complaint, the air conditioner was not working, so didn't get much sleep...considering we got the place to sleep for a night it wasn't very relaxing...Especially with the window open to let cool air in, the sound of car mufflers were very loud. With the windows closed you can't hear the cars passing by.

Parking is very limited. Maybe only 10 spots or so. Especially if a large truck decides to park, they will take up two compact spaces.

Great for location and price, but very noisy beds and really crappy pillows. We asked for extra pillows to help and we were told they would be brought up to us in 10 minutes but they never came. If I do come back it'll be with my own pillow, for sure! Everything else was fine :)

This is a great lil place in the south side of San Clemente. The staff are super nice and go out of their way to Be Helpful

We loved it!!! What a cool little place. Quiet. Clean. The view was breathtaking. I would definitely stay there again and I would most certainly recommend to others. Great bargain as well!

Nice little hotel! Staff was really friendly and recommended some good bars. the inside of the rooms are a little dated but it gives it an old school beach vibe. They need new mattresses for sure.

My biggest complaint is the shower! OMG it was the worst shower I ever took. Low water pressure or the head needs to be replaced.

No hot water!

The stopped-up sink nearly overflowed as I tried (unsuccessfully) to get warm water to shave. Took a barely luke-warm shower after a night of no wifi. The Inn's signal did not show up on my phone or laptop. TV remote did not work either and had to get up out of bed to adjust TV volume and on/off. On checkout I asked for a partial refund-primarily since I was forced to take a nearly cold shower that morning, and that's the bar for me at a lodging establishment. I also mentioned the TV and wifi situation. The owner-manager was grinning at my complaints, either he was condescending or had heard similar complaints from others before. He said I should have checked every component in my room when I checked in, and complained then. Well I DID complain about the TV earlier to another staff member and was told that's how it was. He said I should have gone to the office with my wifi problem, as they have "repeaters" available for their weak wifi (I could not even get a signal on my cellphone in the office). But I did not discover the wifi problem until after 11pm and did not feel like getting dressed and trudging downstairs in the cold to the office, which looked dark and closed for the night anyway. But the grinning manager stood firm and rudely insisted I was in-the-wrong. Evidently it was MY duty to know of all the faults in my room, lack of hot water, stopped up sink, loud running water noises in the middle of the night, etc. Was I supposed to look under the bed, too? I was understanbly angry. I got into my car and recovered for a moment, and started to write what had just transpired. Suddenly the manager/owner was at the window of my car, shouting at me at me to get off of his property.

This place is bad news. Overpriced, rude, dingy and everything appears done on-the-cheap. There are many other places nearby that are a good $30 less and prob'ly way nicer.

I was a bit put off when I first arrived. We waited about 10 minutes because there was no one behind the desk. Then I was told there was no breakfast in the mornings anymore, even though it was listed as such under the website where we bought our reservation. However, the place was very laid back and casual. Our room was clean and we had a balcony near our room which had a great view. We hung out there every night!

This is a small little inn but it's pretty adequate for just staying overnight. There's just a small check-in area and a small parking lot, too. We didn't have problems with parking but then we did take the last spot so I'm not sure if there is enough room for a full house. The people that assisted us each time were very nice and friendly so that was a plus.

The actual room is pretty simple. You've got the sink area in one space and then the toilet + shower in a separate little room. They've got a closet but not really many hangers. You've also got the TV with a DVD player so that was pretty cool. Makes me wish I brought a movie to watch :).

We actually called in to ask a few questions and they offered us a better price. We ended up cancelling with Priceline and going with their rates. I wouldn't mind staying over again for the price and overall satisfaction of my stay. :]

Stayed her one night recently. I liked the room for the most part. Really good size, mini fridge, microwave, and a tv. There's also a table inside and a basket of snacks(for purchase). It was clean. The beds were comfy as well. There was a complimentary breakfast as well which was small but there was bagels, oatmeal, snack bars, and fruit. There was also coffee and juice.
Only downside was our neighbors were outside until really late and were loud but that isn't the hotels fault.
One recommendation I would give would be to get some room darkening curtains! There are blinds but they do not do a great job at keeping the light out.
Overall cool spot. I would book again :)
