Abstract
Deserts together account for more than 35% of the Earth’s solid surface. In the subtropical desert zone, in zonobiome III, there is no cold winter season, which is so characteristic of the arid areas of the temperate zone. The deserts are the result of the earth’s atmospheric circulation, mainly in connection with the innertropical convergence zone. According to rainy season various desert types develop, and which are according to substrate conditions again modified. The different floral kingdoms are the basis for the flora, where xerophytes dominate, which exhibit evolved convergent adaptions to drought conditions.
