Vol XXII – #56 – Point Betsie, Arcadia, and Big Sable

Report #7076 Photo: LR-7-28-23

I am back in Illinois, but on the way down I stopped at some of my favorite places. Pointe Betsie, Arcadia Marsh, and Big Sable Lighthouse.

Pointe Betsie was pretty crowded, so I parked back by the nature conservancy trail and walked around the dunes. I always stop at this twisted pine deadfall on the way back.

This birch stands at the beginning of the Arcadia Marsh boardwalk

Reflections create an interesting visual juxtaposition.

I brought my 30mm tube extension which lets me get really close with a regular lens and found this little guy doing his job

I had a feeling the sky would be interesting that evening so I took a detour to my favorite hike to Big Sable Light. Uncharacteristically devoid of people, although the campground was at capacity. Again, I was not disappointed.

All of a sudden what I could only describe as an Arcus cloud appeared above the lighthouse and slowly moved over me to the south.

You’ve all been very good to us over the years, from helping secure a collection of Erhardt Peters negatives and prints, to supporting this website by buying prints and calendars. $3 of every $6 from the sale of this book will go toward this effort and you get more than just a good feeling, you might also get a laugh or two. The rest goes to printing and shipping costs. This will officially be my second book and go to the Library of Congress with the Leland Report Book.
