More than 100 years ago, legendary archeologist Howard Carter and his team discovered the lost tomb of Tutankhamun, also known as King Tut’s Tomb. Lost for centuries, the pharaoh’s tomb was originally sealed after his death around 1323 B.C. and wasn’t found until 1922. The gold lined tomb, filled with different treasures and King Tut’s sarcophagus is one of the most famous archeological finds of the 20th century. And now, you don’t need to travel to Egypt to experience its wonder. Discovering King Tut’s Tomb at Luxor Hotel and Casino is an immersive experience that takes you through the wonders and mysteries of ancient Egypt.

About the experience

This self-guided journey walks you through the footsteps of Howard Carter as he found the tomb site, unlocked the inner rooms, discovered the many treasures within, and came face-to-face with King Tut’s mummy. Beginning in the caves of the Valley of the Kings, the burial site of many other Egyptian royals, you’ll experience the sounds and images of excavation within hieroglyphic covered walls. You’ll then dive deeper into the artifacts of the tomb, including gold, statues of Egyptian gods, and everyday objects used by ancient Egyptians.

Beyond the immersive world and jaw-dropping replica artifacts, the exhibit is filled with educational diagrams and videos including an in-depth look at the mummification process. There’s also extended information about the life and times of King Tut himself, a boy king who only lived into his late teens and left an indelible mark on Egyptian history.

One of the most extraordinary recreations is King Tut’s sarcophagus and coffin, which consists of three nested, jewel-encrusted golden coffins and the mummified form within.
