  • Deciduous shrub, bushy, to 10 ft (1 m) tall, spreading, shoots dense and erect, pubescent.  Leaves simple, opposite, 2-3 cm long, broad ovate to elliptic, base rounded, tip obtuse, dark green above with whitish midrib, light green below.  Flowers in short clusters.  Fruit in dense clusters, lilac-red, somewhat ellipsoid.
