LETTER FROM OUR LEADERSHIP Thank you for joining us for this unprecedented virtual concert. We certainly did not anticipate finishing the year in this format, but a huge thank you to our tremendous artistic team, staff, and musicians for making it possible! It has been inspiring to watch the concert come together and we hope you will be encouraged by the creativity and resilience that these performances represent. We are grateful to have shared this season with you. From our wonderful partnership with Fear No Music’s Young Composers Project, to our 3-day residency and concert with Regina Carter, to school outreach concerts, to the fun and challenge of making music each Saturday, it has been a rich year. Musicians, we missed seeing you in person this quarter but are so proud of your musical growth and are excited to work with you next year. Seniors, we are thankful for the time that we had with you and look forward to hearing about your next adventures. Please keep in touch! Parents, thank you for supporting your students, enabling their participation, and sharing in their performances. Without you there would be no program! The MYS artistic team is amazing; our conductors, Beginning Strings instructors and theory teachers quickly pivoted to online instruction, and together with our coaches, care deeply for their students, and are an integral part of ensuring that MYS keeps the right balance between musical excellence and a spirit of joy and community. And a very heartfelt thank you to Symphonic Band Director Patrick Murphy who is stepping down from MYS after eight seasons. We so appreciate his joyful spirit and educator’s heart. Thank you to our group managers, librarians, and volunteers who are a critical part of the program. The many hours that they devote is inspiring. Special thanks to Chris, Sarah, Carrie, and Ashley for being the force that makes MYS happen. And to the MYS Board, who so generously give of their time and resources. MYS is where we are today because of their commitment. Finally, huge thanks to everyone who has supported us financially: individuals, foundations, government organizations, and businesses. Every dollar has a deep impact and your gifts will be especially important in the upcoming months as we transition from the COVID shutdown. As we look toward next season, we are committed providing value and excellence as we continue to make our programs as accessible as possible. We look forward to joining you and welcoming many new families to the magic that is music. Have a wonderful summer!
