KN OW? How do you know he is…the one? You may have been asked this question by your parents, your friends, even yourself. The answer isn’t always perfectly clear; he may or may not be ‘ideal’ on paper; you may have known him for only two months or perhaps you’ve been hanging in there a good five years; he may be a cowboy while you were visualizing a business man. The so-called ‘signs’ aren’t always there, but somehow…you just know. At Ceremony, we feel the same way about our Great List of vendors that we recommend. We take this vendor collective very seriously, which is why we don’t put arbitrary consideration requirements in an antiquated form. We don’t have a scholastic checklist to help us come up with an ‘A’ grade. We don’t even have a job application type form to fill out. You see, when it comes to choosing our Great List of recommended vendors, we believe there is no specific formula for choosing who we invite to join our family. Probably not unlike you, we take a look-see at Facebook, we inquire with their friends and colleagues and, most importantly, we get to know them by social networking the old-fashioned way (in person). In the end, we go with our gut. We just…know. You will find that some of these recommended vendors have refined their businesses over the past twenty years, while others bring fresh ideas after having recently started their own businesses. Many of our recommended venues are on the AAA Five-Diamond Resort list; others include charming private estates and everything in between. What they all have in common is that we have a mutual respect for each other; we each genuinely want to see the other succeed; we envision a future together. What’s the hot dish on wedding menus for 2013? JAY’S CATERING: Our clients want fun events where they
can mingle and not sit at a table waiting for food to arrive. Let’s admit it, we’ve all been placed at one time or another at a table we wished we weren’t at. Food stations keep the party moving and allow for more conversation. Common foods are now being incorporated into stations including grilled flatbread pizzas with pesto, arugula and goat cheese, gourmet quesadillas with brie and smoked raspberry chipotle sauce, street tacos of carnitas or grilled mahi-mahi, and sliders of smoked brisket and havarti or turkey and cranberry crème.
Describe an intriguing food experience you’ve created. 24 CARROTS: A seven course Vietnamese dinner, which included
crispy quail over raw, pickled vegetable slaw, “faux” shark fin soup, vanilla butter poached lobster over garlic egg noodles and kaffir lime sorbet with candied ginger as a palette cleanser.
What advice do you have for a couple who desires a ‘farm-to-table’ menu? JAY’S CATERING: SEASONAL! Check to see which items are in

season before you choose a menu. If it is winter, a grilled peach will not be an option.
What is a perfect pairing for food and a specialty cocktail? 24 CARROTS: We actually took the food and specialty cocktail
pairing to a different, yet fun level with our collection of “shots and bites” hors d’oeuvres. We have a full range of both alcoholic and non-alcoholic options like a mini ceviche taco (fish or shrimp) with cilantro, lime, and chili crema, served with a mini tequila or Mexican beer shooter; or our mini French toast with fresh berry compote, served with a shot of hot chocolate or espresso.
JAY’S CATERING: Small plates and mini cocktails. Old-fashioned is “IN.” Our Mixologist has created a mini cocktail menu using many classic ingredients like chartreuse, benedictine, bitters, and vermouth. Presentation is key so barware has been expanded to include cordials and coupes. We are now dressing cocktails with mint sprigs, and grapefruit twists, and freezing cocktail onions into savory ice cubes.

How can you cater to the health conscious, gluten-free or vegan guests? 24 CARROTS: Very easily! We just listen to what our client’s
needs and wants are. We are very open to gluten-free and vegan requests. It is easy for us because we do make everything from scratch. We are very much aware of all of the ingredients that go into our food. We have catered a lot of vegan weddings this past year and have a pretty extensive vegan menu at this time.
How can you fuse ethnic food into the menu? JAY’S CATERING: The best way to share your ethnic
cuisine or travel experience is with short plate appetizers or interactive food stations. Not all of your guests will be familiar with your choices, so it is best to incorporate other familiar food items. Asian inspired foods like ahi poke and dumplings are easily tray passed. Indian food is very popular and offers many vegetarian options such as samosas and vegetable pakora or chicken tikka masala skewers. Many of our ethnic food stations have become crowd pleasers; from a Chef creating a fragrant seafood paella on a large copper paellera over a fire, to a build- your-own pho station.
Meals on wheels: Is the food truck phenomenon still sizzling? 24 CARROTS: Food trucks are still going strong, and late night ice cream is hot! It can be sweet, tart, or savory with very simple or complex flavors. We just created Lucky Charms ice cream, which was a huge hit.
What is your advice for deciding on a menu? JAY’S CATERING: You should share your LOVE story
through food. Guests should walk away from the celebration saying, “That was so them."
What is the perfect nightcap for your guests to take on the ride home? 24 CARROTS: Hot cocoa and a bag of homemade marshmallows. 24 CARROTS BY BRITT RENE

"If heading to the Caribbean, you will want to pack at least one or two sexy swimsuits for the beach portion of the shoot."
Perfect for the adventurous spirit, destination boudoir combines traveling with pampering, providing an exhilarating experience of a lifetime. For the past several years, boudoir shoots have become more and more popular. There is no doubt that this is the sexiest gift a bride can give her groom; and on top of that, it is also an incredible way to be pampered and feel beautiful before the big day. A bridal boudoir session is a must-do activity for the gal who wants to do something a little more unique to knock the socks off her husband-to-be. Brittany Gerth is one such woman who knew that this was the perfect shoot for her. “I love to travel, and to combine a new place and vacation with a super amazing experience was a no-brainer for me,” explains Gerth. The Boudoir Divas have been traveling to Paris for the past three years and have found it to be the absolute perfect place for boudoir photography. In 2012 they also launched their Caribbean boudoir shoots. “We wanted to create a memorable, exclusive photo shoot experience for the woman who loves to travel as much as we do,” says Marissa Boucher, owner of The Boudoir Divas. “This is something that I would have loved to have done when I was a bride, and I’m so glad that we are able to offer this amazing experience to women!” How to plan for a destination boudoir shoot: Figure out the basics. Find your photographer and start talking with them about the location and overall vision for your shoot. Style your outfits. Once you know the basics for your photo shoot, you can start the really fun part: shopping! The location and overall vibe of the shoot will really help determine the styling. For example, if heading to the Caribbean, you will want to pack at least one or two sexy swimsuits for the beach portion of the shoot (where you will be channeling your inner swimsuit model). On the other hand, if you will be shooting in Paris, you may want to bring soft, beautiful vintage lingerie (hello gorgeous window light in a Parisian flat). Plan a vacation. Why not take this opportunity to traverse to the top of the Eiffel Tower, eat escargot, and drink café au lait at a street café; or explore the rainforest and warm waters of the Caribbean? If you want your hubby to join in the shoot, perhaps combining a destination boudoir shoot with your honeymoon or anniversary trip is in order. For the art-lovin’, world-travelin’, big-dreamin’ kind of girl, it’s hard to imagine a better experience. Gerth reveals, “I originally thought this would be a one-time experience for me. But the one-time thing quickly turned into a ‘Let's do this yearly’ thing!”

Anthony was prepared when he proposed to Lindsay. He convinced her that friends had invited them to their boat for the evening then hired a plane with a message under the wing asking Lindsay to marry him. After the amorous proposal, the ship’s crew emerged with champagne and Anthony revealed the boat was not a friend’s, that he had reserved the boat specially for her and when Lindsay rounded the corner, she saw both their families had arrived to celebrate.

Ashkon and Sahar both love being outdoors and often run together. After one of their usual runs they were walking near the water when Ashkon asked Sahar to listen to a new song on his iPod. Instead of a song, she heard a recording of Ashkon telling Sahar everything he loves about her and asking her to marry him. When she turned to look at Ashkon, she saw him holding a ring down on one knee.
