Perennial best treated as annual. Two-lipped flower on tall spikes. A versatile plant available in many colours and sizes. Dwarf types provide a stunning display when mass planted or spread throughout the garden, also ideal for containers. Medium types are ideal for middle borders, whilst taller types look brilliant when massed planted in rear garden beds, excellent cut flower. Perennial commonly treated as annual. Mounded plants covered in masses of flat petal flowers in reds, pinks and white. Oval leaves wax-like in appearance range from green to deep bronze and red. If planted too early, plants can be affected by frost. This is not fatal and plant will begin regrow within a few weeks.
