We are at the letter H with Denise Nesbitt’s ABC Wednesday Meme.
How timely since my Helleborus, Lenten Rose is blooming. I’m not sure exactly what variety mine is. It looks similar to a Spring or Angel variety that I’ve seen on line.
I had to get down on my knees to take the photos because this is a humble plant whose blooms bow their heads to the ground for the most part.
This is the first plant to bloom in the middle or late winter at my house. I love that it is blooming during the Lenten season.
Hellebores are perennial and largely evergreen. They are deer resistant for some of you who have asked in previous posts.
Noteworthy characteristics: Year round foliage persists through shade and snow and is fairly deer and rabbit resistant. Flowers in early spring with daffodils and tulips.
Hope you enjoyed seeing my Hellebore as much as I enjoyed showing it. I’ll be coming around to see your ABC offering for H.
I’m also linking up to Outdoor Wednesday with A Southern Daydreamer.
Our outdoors have been cold and rainy since Saturday. I know a lot of you might still be covered in snow so who am I to complain. Looking forward to this weekend and the opening of MLS Soccer season in the U.S.A. I’ll be at the Seattle Sounders opener against Sporting Kansas on Saturday. What’s new in your neck of the woods?
Pretty flower – always nice to see the first blooms of spring!
I love hellebores. These are beautiful shots.Carver, ABCW Team

Thank you for this beautiful and precious flower! It might be humble but it is a very regal plant and to be discovered by the connoisseurs.

Softly your flowers enter the blog world. The colors and the shapes of the flower and leaves are so beautiful. I sit in awe!

What a beautiful, colorful flower, your Hellebores is, I am always looking for new plants especially deer resistant ones, thanks for sharing. I am so looking forward to Spring, my daffodils are beginning to bloom, so Spring can’t be to far behind.
oh, I should see if mine are blooming now that the snow has melted some. They are hard to photograph! Yours are beautiful.
My neighbour has quite a few of these plants and they’re so heavenly!

Your hellebore is lovely. I keep meaning to plant some – you’ve reminded me what a good idea that would be.
Such lovely flowers! We had some in a past garden and I sure miss them!
Gorgeous photographs which show your hellebores off to perfection, I think I’ve only seen the upright larger versions but I love these little ones, I’ll have to go on a plant hunt round the nurseries.
These are beautiful, Ellen!! I love this particular color! My mom has Lenten Roses and she just loves them; she’s been encouraging me to plant some for myself. I really need to do that.
Thank you for sharing these lovely images with us; your photography is so impressive. I hope you have a great day. 🙂
Blessings,
Denise
Your flower pics are lovely. I love all the detail in the petals. Thanks for your nice comment on my coastal pics. When I don’t have any projects to share I can always rely on our pretty scenery!
