Narrow, straplike, gray-green leaves grow in dense clumps. Flowerheads are held just above foliage as clumps of buds that open one at a time in the morning. Plants rebloom in fall. Prefers average to moist soil in full sun or part shade. Plants may go dormant in heat of summer if it’s dry. Good vigorous grower for filling areas under trees and slopes. Good naturalizing plant because of its long blooming period. Plant with tricyrtis, woodland phlox, monarda, foxglove, sidalcea, turtlehead, and goatsbeard.  Zone 5-8
