About Calathea 'White Fusion'
Many of the houseplants we used to know as Calatheas now belong to the genus Goeppertia (say that three times fast). These plants have delightfully patterned leaves that come in all sorts of colors and shapes! Commonly known as prayer plants, the leaves of some species fold up at night through a process called nyctinasty meaning night movement! 😴

Finding light for Calathea 'White Fusion' in your home
Calathea 'White Fusion' may have difficulty thriving, and will drop leaves 🍃, without ample sunlight.
Place it less than 3 feet from a south-facing window to maximize the potential for growth.
Select your region to see how the current weather in your area affects the placement of Calathea 'White Fusion' in your home 🏡.
How to fertilize Calathea 'White Fusion'
Most potting soils come with ample nutrients which plants use to produce new growth.
By the time your plant has depleted the nutrients in its soil it’s likely grown enough to need a larger pot anyway.
To replenish this plant's nutrients, repot your Calathea 'White Fusion' after it doubles in size or once a year—whichever comes first.

Bottom leaves are dying. Any ideas? It gets indirect sunlight 6-7 hours a day and I water every 7-8 days. Thanks for any tips.

Does anyone think it is time to repot “Bella” she’s looking happy sprouting another new leaf and she has sprouted one last week as well. Want to make sure she has room for more growth. I’m new to this

Hellllpppppp! I’m not sure what else I can do for this little plant. I haven’t repotted her since bringing her home per the plant store workers recommendation. I use a soil moisture reader and it says she is moist. I only water her when she’s dry but her leaves are turning brown and crispy. I water her with filtered fridge water too! The plant store worker told me this was a good beginner plant but so far I can’t seem to make her happy lol. #PlantsMakePeopleHappy #help #PlantMomentsoftheWeek

Might lose this one :( - can't figure out my 'white fusion' I know Calatheas are hard. I have had a hard time with my Rose but I managed to get the hang of it, regarding humidity, placement etc - she's thriving. The 'white fusion', however, presented dry leaves from the get go, and though I've tried everything (humidifier, boxing her, watering more frequently) nothing works. In the beginning the browning was definitely lack of water - now I'm not even sure if I'm overwatering her. My first thought is, although she's young, I should take her out the pot and maybe put her somewhere else... any tips? Really wished this one worked out. #WhiteFusionCalathea #CalatheaCrew #Calathea #HappyPlants #PlantAddict #PlantsMakePeopleHappy

Can you help me help Fabio? I’ve killed one #WhiteFusionCalathea before and this one has been doing great until recently. My only guess is too much light. No root rot and he’s in my soil mix. Filtered RO water and he’s by a humidifier. Any ideas?

Is this pot too big for this size Calathea? This is my first small one & I know I made a mistake in repotting too soon after receiving it - placed in a peat/soil mix and moved from a 4" to a 6". Compared to my other larger Calathea, this one isn't sprouting any new growths- but I have no experience with this! Any tips? #calatheacrew

New plant starting to brown I've never bought one this small, any tips to help it grow (watering schedule etc)?

What other plant parents say
Huge diva she used to look so lush but started crisping and dying because of a spider mite infestation and low humidity. I used a pebble tray to increase the humidity around it and used dish soap and water to kill the mites and shes looking a bit better now - do your research when you get this plant because i didn’t until she started dying
This is my second high maintenance beauty. I thought we were in the clear when I almost lost her to spider mites.
Perhaps cousins of the mites that killed my first plant.
I love this plant because it was my first and I've had to learn so much because of how high maintenance it is.
She and now her twin made me a plant mom.
Gf got this for me as a gift from Hurts Gardens and it was in TERRIBLE shape when it got to us. I would not recommend purchasing from Hurts because the calathea was “Hurts when it got here” as my girlfriend jokingly said. The plant however has bounced back and is doing well. Water with filtered only. Love the beautiful foliage.
I have mixed feeling about this beautiful diva plant. It’s so gorgeous when it’s at its top shape, but as a newbie, I’m still struggling to keep/restore it to its best look. Surprisingly, it doesn’t die on me, just brown very very easy but hanging in there. So after almost half a year of frustration, it’s still here. It’s been pushing out a few new shoots this spring but definitely not back to how it was.
I’m a glutton for punishment and against everyone’s advice I got a White Fusion. It shriveled up and become crispy just as everyone had said she would. I tried humidifiers, my plastic indoor greenhouse.. and she wasn’t having it. Finally i placed her under a glass cloche and she slowly grew all new leaves and is thriving. She will never be leaving the cloche. If you get one of these get a class cloche or put it in a terrarium.
