I have a carnosa compacta (Hindu rope) that is new to me. When I received it in the mail, it has one strand that has both ends planted into the soil. Roots! Poor girl’s been on a JOURNEY on the struggle bus. Now I think I was sold a cutting that was propagated in water. She had very thin roots. She looked healthy, but steadily declined. So I chopped.. Water prop didn’t work at all. So I tried something new.. I put her in a pot with wet soil + perlite, and placed her pot on a shallow cup of water. I also gave her a zip-lock humidity dome. I made sure her bottom water never ran out. 3 weeks later, beautiful white roots grew! I am so excited! I’m going to pot her up in a small pot and give her a soak, but not water again for a while. (Hold me back!)
