Girona is one of the ten European cities the British newspaper The Guardian has selected as best European cities for a break. The cathedral, the modernist architecture and the Museum of Jewish History are some of the points that the journalist specializing in travel Will Coldwell has chosen to highlight the city in which the article recommends visiting Girona.

Illustrated with an image of the uphill rainbow, the article also refers to the cuisine and entertainment of the city, in El Celler de Can Roca, the Sunset Jazz Club or the factory cafeteria, as well as the qualities of Girona as a place of sport.

In his article, Coldwell also notes that Girona offers visitors a sample of Catalan culture without having to endure the crowds of tourists who regularly walk in high season for Barcelona and recommends combining stay in the city with visits to Costa Brava .

The other cities in the article are recommended La Valletta (Malta), Marseille (Aquitaine - France), Dubrovnik (Croatia), Sarajevo (Bosnia and Herzegovina), Brno (Czech Republic), Tallinn (Estonia) and Graz (Austria) .
