Veronicastrum virginicum

Commonly known as Culver's root, this herbaceous perennial resembles a large Veronica. White to palest blue tubular flowers on erect 9" long racemes open from top down in late spring to summer (June - August).

Plant in full sun with very moist, well drained soil. Can tolerate some shade, but will most likely need staking if grown in too much shade. This perennial does not like the soil to dry out, which makes it a perfect choice for rain gardens. Cut back after flowering to encourage new growth and a possible second bloom time in late summer or fall. A great choice to add tall interest in the garden bed, cottage or wild gardens.
