The vividly red 'Apache' dahlia is a magnificent cactus variety. Its tall, thick stems that are covered with feathery leaves carry large flowers. They consist of charming narrowing petals that ornamentally bifurcate at the tip. Their distinct colour and size make it a great focal point of every garden. The 80 to 100 centimetres tall 'Apache' dahlia plants constitute excellent material for blooming rows, covers, and edgings. Their tall erect appearance allows to use them as background for other plants. Tall dahlias look good planted alongside walls and fences. They can also be used to divide the garden into smaller parts. The extended blooming period, lasting from July to October, and high durability of the flowers even in bad weather put dahlia high in the ranking of garden flowers.

Dahlia originates from Mexico and therefore loves sunlight and warmth. It is sensitive to cold and therefore can be grown only at the height of the vegetation season in Central Europe. After the first frost in autumn, dahlia stems must be pruned 10 to 20 centimetres over the ground and its carrot-like rootstocks excavated. Transfer the rootstock to a place where it can slightly dry. Remove soil rests and place the rootstocks in ventilated boxes that should be stored over the winter in a dry, cool place where temperatures would not fall below freezing point. In drier rooms, cover rootstocks with layers of peat or sawdust that will prevent dahlias from drying out completely. Rootstocks stored that way over the winter should be planted in the garden in the second half of may. You can begin earlier by forcing dahlias in pots placed in bright rooms.

Each package contains 1 piece of the first choice 'Apache' dahlia rootstock. Basic plant facts and the essential growing guide has been printed on the product label.
