ABOUT GENITAL HERPES

Genital herpes is a very common sexually transmitted disease that causes painful blisters near or around the genitals or any part of the body which can burst open and bring out fluid.  Herpes is caused by Herpes Simplex Virus (HSV) and is majorly transmitted through sex (oral, vaginal, or anal).

  • Genital herpes is caused by two types of Herpes Simplex Virus (HSV-1 and HSV-2). Both can be found in bodily fluids such as semen, saliva, vaginal Secretions, etc. HSV enters the body through skin abrasion (an open wound caused by the skin rubbing against a rough surface).
