This is a damn good blade.I usually wield a snowchipper and defender's lightblade. When grouping or raiding and a wanderer attacks our casters i can switch my defender's for this and pull the mob away from the caster without even taunting. Once the MA takes the agro away from me(or i give it to them) the mob is good as dead, and our caster lives on to assist the whole group. Believe it or not there ARE times a ranger can and should get agro. That's why we have taunt skill. But with jolt we can pass agro on to the MA when our casters are safe, and continue on to destroy the said mob quite effectively. This is a decently fast, hard hitting blade. With my str at 205 at lev 53 i can do some fast damage. We were never meant to be tanks, but we are good defensive wise and can deal lotsa damage and be almost untouched at the end of the encounter when careful. Granted rogues are better for melee damage output while staying relatively safe due to defensive skills (dodge, parry, evade etc) I think I like this blade. I better..it's nodrop anyways :)
Newbie weapon ? this is a pretty decent pre-epic ranger sword, and obtainable at late 40s early 50s. Not all of us can afford, nor have the guilds to get the "Uber" weapons.
Hum... Can't tell wether you were trying to be sarcastic or not; about the wood-ish armour... why not??
After all, they *are* called Thorny Vine and Darkwood... Well, so vines aren't exactly 'wood', but I don't see what would be the big problem if the pieces 'were' made out of a wood-ish substance. It's an RPG - 100kg ogres levitate at will, I can turn into a wolf and my next door neighbour has an invisible swordsman for a pet. ^_^
I, for one, am glad that they left Tolan's armour with plate graphics. You'd most likely have a piece of Tolan's by now, maybe a helm or gloves. Aren't you glad that we at least have *some* plate looking pieces? The reason I'm glad is because knowing Verant, if they made 'wooden' armour graphics, they'd probably sp00ge it and I'd be wearing matchsticks on my fist right now >_<.
Well, it's kinda getting off track. This thread is supposed to be about a great sword, not about wether termites have infested Tolan's favourite suit or not. I'm proud of knowing that Rangers are the only class that actually seem to stay on track with item posts, and don't bash on each other over petty arguments about weight or stats or delay...
Saying that, I'm risking looking like a total hypocrite (^_^) so I'll leave the post at that.
Good Hunting, brothers and sisters.

How do you know Thorny Vine and Tolan's is made of a wood substance? LOL Did Tunare magically visit you one night? Or maybe you had an encounter with a magic giant bixie. Just be careful of those Giant Frenzied Termites.

LOL Hey Mr. Tough *** necro. Just so you know, the guy did say any WARRIOR! Not NECROMANCER! WARRIOR! Got it? Man with the Intellegence you necros have you sure are dumb. At least we don't become mana batteries at higher levels! Bottom line is, you can solo as much as you want, but when it comes time to get that planar armor you need, or epic weapon you crave, you're gonna need a lot of backup. But this necro in paticular could probably solo Tunare herself I bet.
Actually Thorny Vine and Tolan's Darkwood isnt really metal plate armor, which is how Rangers can wear it. Both armor sets are made from a wood like substance. If people think rangers are wimps, mine killed Senty Alechin (paladin NPC) in South Karana while he still considered blue. It was a close battle but my ranger prevailed. I dare anyone warrior to fight Sentry Alechin while he still considers blue.
Silver plated leggings are easy to explain. They're not silver "plate" leggings. When something is plated, it is coated with a metal. Like a gold-plated necklace. Since they look like plate, you might explain it by saying that the armor itself is chain, but with small silver plates fastened to the chain, giving it greater protection than chain by itself but with more mobility than full plate. As for mithril, the explanation has more to do with role-playing. Mithril is a metal forged through magic. Since it's magical in origin you could say that while it protects like plate, it's as light as chain, providing more mobility. Granted, that's going beyond the simple facts to create an explanation, but it sounds good to me :)

Heh, just the icon is red, not the sword. Look at the picture. Besides, Darth would make a better SK with that whole harm touch/choke thing he does. Luke is more of a Ranger... or maybe a lightly armed Pali (He only carries one weapon after all)... Ugh, I just realized that I'm matching EQ with Star Wars... I think I'll go crawl into the hole and die now.

Looks very nice in pic, if he was in full plate that is. Also I don't think it would look to grate on a female, including myself... Other than the look the stats rule!
