Help us Kickstart the Eva Hesse documentary!
Eva Hesse was a German-American artist who was highly active in the New York art scene of the 1960s, one of the only female artists around other makers like Sol Lewitt, Carl Andre, and Donald Judd. Before her life was tragically cut short by a brain tumor at the age of 34, she created some of the era’s most singular and outstanding art, which still stands as an influence on today’s makers.
In 2011, director Marcie Begleiter and producer Karen Shapiro began work on a full-length documentary about Eva’s life and work. In May 2015, it had its first screening at the Whitney Museum in New York City, receiving a standing ovation from a teary-eyed audience. The film is currently raising money for theatrical distribution - we need your help to get Eva’s story out to the public.
Donation rewards include a limited edition oversize print of Sol LeWitt’s “DO” letter, lunch with Eva’s friend Mike Todd at his Los Angeles studio, and tickets to the premiere of the film in LA or NY.
