August 6, 2022 – Salt Lake City, UT – Craft Lake City and Utah Afterschool Network (UAN) are partnering to provide enrichment experiences for young Utah makers at Kid Row, the youth entrepreneur vendor section of the 14th Annual Craft Lake City® DIY Festival® Presented By Harmons.
Kid Row Sponsored By Utah Afterschool Network is a special feature of the DIY Fest that spotlights Utah-based kid makers aged 14 and under. This pop-up section of the festival takes place on Saturday, August 13, 2022 from noon – 4:00 p.m. and will feature handmade goods in a wide variety of mediums including ceramics, artwork, jewelry, home decor, craft food, & more.
This year, Kid Row will be twice as big as last year’s lineup (featuring nearly 50 participants), thanks to funding from the Utah Afterschool Network and the Falbaum-Caillet Family Foundation. This funding allows elementary aged youth to experience free developmental afterschool arts programming, while preparing them to exhibit at Kid Row Presented By Utah Afterschool Network, the youth entrepreneur vendor section of the DIY Fest. As always, we are proud to offer this unique and beloved feature of the DIY Fest as a formative opportunity for the next generation of creative entrepreneurs.
“Utah Afterschool Networks mission is to equip the afterschool community with tools to improve program quality, build leadership capacity, and ensure equitable access to afterschool programs in Utah,” says Ben Trentelman, Utah Afterschool Network’s Executive Director. “Collaborating with Craft Lake City to provide this opportunity to build those leadership skills has been so valuable to these kids. We’re showing them that being an artist or crafter is not only possible, but fun, exciting, and achievable, contributing to Utah’s future next generation of creatives.”

The Pom Pom Sisters
Syrri and Ari are sisters who love to create! They love arts and crafts and have taken this love and turned into Pom Pom Sisters. They make decor and accessories all adorned with a fun and bright handmade pom pom!
Hutchtastic Art
Hutch has been drawing since he could hold a pencil. Drawing animals and characters from movies and video games are his current favorites. He likes to get his drawings printed on mugs, shirts and zipper pouches to give as gifts to friends and family.
Caraballo Artists
Jessenia loves making art, including clay sculptures, and authoring/illustrating books. She is very sad about spring break because she won’t get to learn or be with her friends. Ana loves making abstract art, and would love to sell it because she wants people to see her art.
The objective of the DIY Fest is to empower local makers by providing a platform for them to exhibit & sell their work to a dedicated local audience. As a shopper, you can vote with your dollar to bolster a robust sense of community. When you shop small, you are directly impacting the livelihood and wellbeing of your neighbors by supporting their entrepreneurial dreams. The DIY Fest at large is a fantastic opportunity to practice the “shop small” ethos, but supporting our youth makers at Kid Row gives that extra warm and fuzzy feeling!
