This cap kit for the Game Gear contains all parts necessary to replace the electrolytic capacitors of any VA4 model Game Gear.
Please open your Game Gear to determine the correct cap kit - product photo is not indicative of revision. The VA4 is less common than VA1.
All caps are included for the:
- Main PCB 837-9537 or 837-9537-01
- Sound PCB
- Power PCB standard or VA4 837-9538
This kit replaces the obsolete main board surface mount with radial lead capacitors. New surface-mount style caps are included for the audio & main boards where originally equipped.
Installation Notes:
Some replacement caps may have higher voltage ratings than the original parts (e.g. 100uF 10v instead of 100uF 6.3v)
For easier installation of SMD-type Audio PCB caps with a soldering iron, the plastic spacer on the bottom of the cap can be clipped off, giving extra space to fit the soldering iron & solder.
