Did you know?

"Floribunda" means freely blooming. Cheyenne Indians used the dried, powdered leaves rubbed over hands, arms and body for Contrary dance. The Blackfoot Indians used the leaves mixed with dried meat as a deodorant and spice, and to fill pillows. They used the dry, flaky bark as tinder when starting a fire with twirling sticks. The Eskimo used the dried leaves to make tea.

HABITAT
Wet to dry, open sites, bogs, grasslands, shores, alpine; in limey soil.
ATTRIBUTES
Leaves
The leaves are dainty, and compound (fully divided into three to nine leaflets), often with long hairs, especially when they first emerge. Leaves are alternate, about ½ to 1 in wide (1.5 to 2.5 cm). Leaf edges are smooth, and fold downward. The top of the leaves are medium to dark green and covered with fine, silky hairs. The underside of each leaf is a pale green, more densely covered with hairs.
Flowers
Each yellow flower has five flat, overlapping round petals. Flowers are ¾ to 1½ in wide (2 to 4 cm). There are many (15 to 20) stamens and carpels are crowded in the center of the flower, all are also yellow. Flowers are produced on upper branches, and may be individual, or in clusters. Flowers bloom from summer to early fall (June to September).
Fruits
A brown capsule filled with several hairy seeds. The capsule turns a very dark brown and persists through winter.
Bark
Reddish to grayish brown, and appears shredded and ragged with age.
