Important Notes:

- Pay attention to the hardiness zones but also where the plant is from; a plant from zone 8 in Oregon won't thrive in zone 8 in Arizona. And be sure to browse the USDA hardiness zone map to know your zone. 

- We encourage you to search for more pictures by using the plants scientific name in your search engine, google etc.  Some plants have no photo or are limited to poor quality photos due to the rarity of the pant. 

- In general, you can assume soil type based on native location as Penstemon are not picky, don't like fertilizer and prefer fast draining soil. Even if they are tolerant to more moisture, Penstemon prefer fast draining rocky soil. Sandy, rocky, loamy, gravel, chalky, as long as it drains fast. Some of these will grow and thrive on gravel or pure sand.
