grows in China Yunnan, Sichuan, and ~SE-Tibet at altitudes up to 3500 m / 1,5 m high / grows on more or less shady places between bushes on rocky slopes / evergreen / hardy / orange-red fruits / often used as rootstock for grafting /
Similar to Daphne acutiloba but Daphne acutiloba belongs to the subgenus Rhedera in section Rhedera with the special characteristic of sympodial growth. Daphne longilobata is placed in section Sophia because the inflorescences are terminal or lateral. Please compare with the pictures of Daphne acutiloba. Daphne longilobata flowers during the whole vegetation time. The calyx tubes of Daphne longilobata are often tinged purplish brown at the base, not always so well visible (see pictures below).
Daphne DJHC 98164 has a well coloured calyx tube and is considered to be a coloured variation of Daphne longilobata.
Hybrid with Daphne longilobata is Daphne x ‘Valerie Hillier’
