Azara microphylla comes from New Zealand and is a small evergreen tree with fragrant yellow flowers borne abundantly in late winter.  Grows well in full sun or partial shade, ours showed no damage at 8 degrees.  Restrained growth to 20 feet, but occasional pruning can keep it to any size.  Would make a nice  bonsai if given time to develop a reasonable trunk, perhaps by planting in the ground.   Zones 8-10 River Rock Nursery is a retail, mail order nursery, also open daily. 19310 SE Hwy 224 - Clackamas, Oregon 97015 --- (503) 658-4047 Gretchen@riverrocknursery.com
