Common Name The Small Appendages Cremastra [refers to the warty Lip callus] - in Japan - Saihai-ran - In China Du Juan Lan

Flower Size 1.6" [4 cm] long

Found in far eastern Russia, Japan Korea, China, Taiwan, eastern Himalayas, Assam India, Nepal, Bhutan, Thailand and Vietnam in dense forests in shade at elevations of 1330 to 2300 meters as a medium sized, cool to cold growing terrestrial with a single, plicate, elliptic-lanceolate, 8 to 16" [20-40 cm] long, acute apically, gradually narrowing below into the elongate, petiolate base leaf that blooms in the spring on a terete, erect, racemose 12 to 20" [30-50 cm], 3 to 30 flowered inflorescence with narrow flowers.
