The joint efforts and goodwill of the City Council and Carmen Thyssen-Bornemisza have combined to provide a space at Sant Feliu de Guíxols to display the baroness's private collection.

Close ties and cooperation between the Baroness and the city have made possible it possible for the public to enjoy works of art at the Espai Carmen Thyssen by renowned national and international painters that were previously unseen in any Catalan museums.

The project is currently focused on a continual program of temporary exhibitions.

A long history of festive and cultural traditions at Sant Feliu de Guíxols is exemplified by the Porta Ferrada International Festival of Music, Theatre and Dance, held over the summer months and one of the oldest events on the Cataluña calendar.

Carnival, the 'Tavern Songs' festival, the Fiesta Mayor, the Ferias in September and the Virgen del Carmen Boat Procession are also spectacular local festivities not to be missed.

Sant Feliu de Guíxols is a town bustling with life all year round meaning there is never a shortage of cultural, sporting and other entertainments on offer outside the officially organized dates.
