Closely related to C. cilicium, but a daintier plant, the leaves more rounded, generally broader than long, plain or marbled above. The flowers are smaller, white or very pale pink, with grey veins, the petal-lobes only 1-1.6cm long, autumn. Western Turkey usually in deciduous woodland, especially oak at 1000-1100m. Hardy, but a dainty species best appreciated in a trough, raised bed or in a pan in the alpine house.
