Authors: Moretti
Tufted to small clump-forming, semi-evergreen. Much like C. fragilis in general appearance but with softer, less fleshy leaves and blue flowers lacking the dark basal ring. Northwestern Italy in coastal limestone rock crevices near Savona. C.i. 'Mollis' (syn. C. mollis of gardens) is grey-hairy, 'Mayi' has white variegated leaves and 'Alba' bears white flowers. Reasonably hardy in a sheltered dry wall but more reliable as a hanging basket plant for the alpine house.
